MAXPEDITION - 6" x 9" Padded Pouch

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Saturday, 17 October 2009 05:38

DIMS: 6" wide x 9"+ tall x 3" thick
Frontal loop field: 3" x 4"

This pouch is now around to expand the Maxpedition padded line for those who want something in more of a large GP size. At this size you can get into larger electronics such as hand camcorders. Of course feel free to get crafty and fit whatever items you want inside to have a cushy ride. If attached directly to the body the padding can also make wearing more comfortable for long hauls. The main opening double zippers are done reversed style and work nice and smooth.

Zulu Mega Admin Pouch

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Friday, 14 August 2009 17:33

DIMS: Approx 9.5" W x 6" H x 1" D

As you may have guessed I'm a fan of admin pouches so it was cool to check out this larger design by Zulu Nylon Gear. Hence the name, Mega, the size is no messing around and takes up the upper chest area on a typical tactical vest. Depending on your load out, placing lower on top of rifle magazine pouches is another common mounting location.

Starting with the exterior there is elastic webbing on both frontal sides and on the bottom. The sides work great for chem lights and pens while the bottom can accommodate thicker items such as medical gear or folding knives. With a little elbow greese you can even get a full size CAT tourniquet in there on the bottom.

ITW MILITARY - FASTmag GEN III

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Friday, 14 August 2009 17:30

DIMS: approx 3.125" W x 4.25" H x 1.25" D (not counting PALS fins)

I've been quite the fan of the GEN II and based on user feedback and requests GEN III has recently come about. Down East Inc is still the main design crew while ITW distributes and markets the FASTmag. I'd say the largest change is that GEN III is now stackable and to assist in this, 2 versions are offered with one having PALS stabilizer pads and one without. The one with stabilizers is intended to be the main platform while the version without is for stacking or wearing on a belt.

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Sunday, 09 August 2009 22:07

DIMS: Overall size: 7" wide x 4" high x 1.5" thick
Map case: Opens to 12" x 12"; folded dims 5" x 5" x 1"
GPS/Compass/Strobe pouch: 2.25" wide x 1.25" thick; height adj. 4-5"

This pouch kit clearly was made with the serious navigator in mind. The main aspect is the map case which is held in by an adjustable SRB. When ready for use the map portion can be torn off the velcro and unfolded to a no joke 12" x 12" size. This allows a lot of map to be viewed at one time. A single zipper allows map access and for those who plan on getting wet on their adventures, a LOKSAK dry bag is even included.

MAXPEDITION - Clip-On PDA Phone Holster

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Sunday, 09 August 2009 22:07

DIMS: Overall size: 2.75" wide; height adjustable between 4.5" to 5.5"

So you might be thinking, "How the hell is this any different than the Phone Clip-On Series", and I'd have to say not much except the sizing and full coverage flap. The sizing is made to fit the popular iphone while being able to hold many others of similar size due to the elastic webbing and adjustable SRB. The flap comes over the top to give enhanced protection in which the inside still has a nice soft material.

MAXPEDITION - Double M4 Mag Pouch and Double Stack

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Sunday, 09 August 2009 22:06

DIMS Empty: Single - 7.25" H x 3.5" W x 1.75" D
Double - 7.25" H x 6.75" W x 1.75" D

If looking for a nice flap based rifle mag pouch these give solid holding options. Originally made to fit 2, 30 round NATO (M4) magazines the flap is long enough to accommodate other options such as: (2) AK-74 30-rnd magazines, (1) AK-47 30-rnd magazine with lid cover, or (2) with lid tucked. Since elastic is around the middle it can hold just 1 magazine without rattling issues as well. If it comes down to it, one can even ram a full size pistol inside.

These GP style pouches offer a solid padded option for those who need to carry more delicate objects such as electronics. With both sizes having about 3" depth, a decent sized object can fit inside such as a camcorder with accessories. The main opening double zippers are done reversed style and work nice and smooth. They go down to near the bottom to create a good sized opening and webbing tabs are also on the end for zipper pull points or attach points.

SIERRA 313 - G36 Double Mag Pouch

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Wednesday, 05 August 2009 03:18

DIMS: 3.75" x 7.5" x 3"

For those into simple designs this is a regulation style mag pouch for ze Germans. The connection points of two G36 mags require the need for all of the 3 inches of depth you see in this pouch. NATO mag users can take advantage of this aspect and can ram in 3 magazines easy. To keep out debris the flap is a full cover style which is nice for protection. The front and back sides of the interior have plastic stiffener to keep proper shape and add durability. To mount, the back has PALS webbing setup to interface with long MALICE clips. Making it unique to most of us SRB whores, the main security hardware is a "Spanish" style clip. It is hard to explain so be sure and view the pics. The Spanish style works quite well as a quick release only requiring one motion of pulling the webbing slack. The down side would be the Spanish style isn't as easy as other methods to resecure. No elastic is on the sides, so keep this in mind when placing 2 NATO mags inside that won't fully fill the pouch. All the materials are mil spec making this pouch feel nice and heavy duty.

MAXPEDITION - Tear Away Panel

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Wednesday, 05 August 2009 03:14

If you have an old medic or demo pouch you wish was tear-away capable, then this panel is for you. The foundation is simple mostly consisting of a PALS webbing party and velcro. 5" TacTies or similar connection systems can be used to attach, however keep in mind shorter ones are fine to use for the pouch connection as well. Just in case you are still confused the idea is to attach the non-handle side to a platform such as a vest or pack. The pouch is then mounted to the panel piece with the handle and they connect with hook and loop. To further secure, a strap with an SRB is also supplied. As a small note, mine came in an odd configuration and I had to move the strap around to get it as shown. So come business time you can release the SRB and literally tear off the pouch. Functionality wise you will need to keep an eye on the strap and SRB while doing a quick tear as it can hang up on the handle. A possible improvement might be to widen up the handle sew down points to make for a larger pass through hole. A great example of a use for this panel would be putting it on the Maxpedition Merlin, yet is great for anything you need to with tear off capability.

MAXPEDITION - EDC Pocket Organizer

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Wednesday, 05 August 2009 03:10

DIMS: 5” x 7” x 0.75”

As you may guess from the name, this pouch is made with the intent to put in your pocket, yet also has other great functionality options. The size will fit in most cargo pant pockets thus easily fits in medium and larger packs for small item organization. To give even further options there is PALS webbing on the back which works with 3" TacTies or similar connection systems. This allows mounting to the exterior of larger packs which can be quite handy. A beefy handle is incorporated for easy retrieval when inside packs or pockets.
