DIMS: Approx 9.5" W x 6" H x 1" D
As you may have guessed I'm a fan of admin pouches so it was cool to check out this larger design by Zulu Nylon Gear. Hence the name, Mega, the size is no messing around and takes up the upper chest area on a typical tactical vest. Depending on your load out, placing lower on top of rifle magazine pouches is another common mounting location.
Starting with the exterior there is elastic webbing on both frontal sides and on the bottom. The sides work great for chem lights and pens while the bottom can accommodate thicker items such as medical gear or folding knives. With a little elbow greese you can even get a full size CAT tourniquet in there on the bottom.
On one side is a wide pocket with velcro flap. The exterior is covered in loop velcro (6" x 5.5") for your patch needs and the amount of hook velcro used on the flap connection makes it easy to open. Inside is a strip of divided elastic to assist in organization. It is still useful, but I'd like to see this elastic moved down a little as not all items will be so tall. To the side of this pocket is a smaller utility pocket with a webbing velcro flap. The size allows for a good assortment of items to fit such as flashlights, multitools, pistol mags, small GPS units or phones. Elastic retention is incorporated to keep the smaller items nice and snug. The loop velcro space and flap adjustment length offer much more item holding adjustability than similar pockets on other products. For mounting there is a PALS webbing party on the back giving a full 6 channels x 5 rows (5"). You can get by with 2 long MALICE clips or tighten up the connection with more as desired.
The main compartment opens up fully with a clamshell design. Webbing Tabs are at the bottom for bonus connection points and to assist in pulling the zippers. Inside is a 550 cord and cordlock rig to limit opening angle as desired giving great hands free capability. The whole interior front is a clear vinyl pocket giving a generous amount of map holding space. I estimate the clear vinyl to be 20 gauge or so which is nice and thick preventing wrinkles. On the exterior back is an organization party starting with the back sleeve pocket. This area is great for tactical notebooks, yet divided elastic webbing is also included to give further options. Moving forward are 2 shorter sleeve pockets each with elastic webbing inside as well. This step-like design works out well separating item sizes and making them easy to access. As an additional touch, 2" webbing is sewn on top of the shorter sleeve pockets to fill the more misc holding needs.
For uses it is clear one can fit a crapload of admin goods inside, however the organization capability also works well for turning this pouch into a medical kit. When stuffed, the depth can accomodate 1.75"+. If worn on the upper chest of a vest, consider it will likely change how you are able to shoulder your weapon. If you don't need access quite so immediate, the Mega admin mounts great on tactical backpacks increasing external organization capability. Construction is solid using the usual heavy duty materials I expect. If I were to whine about something I wish the thread used was darker as it highly contrasts on my Coyote brown sample. Combat leaders and those who have to keep vast amount of intel tools ready for quick access should definitely check this pouch out.
