5.11-TACTICAL / BLADE-TECH / Revolution pistol holster

Details
Category: Holsters
Created: Wednesday, 29 November 2006 01:23

5.11 teamed up with Blade-tech to offer their proprietary blend of polymers holster. Upon first glance it appears to just be a Kydex type holster, however the materials used allow the Revolution to be much more temperature resistant. Thus it will not get soft in hot areas or brittle in extreme cold. The surface is overall slick keeping gun wear to a minimum.

The package comes with the holster, the paddle, and a belt mount. Both the mounts are adjustable for a 1" to 2 1/4" belt and the paddle allows for cant / angle adjustment. 3 screws are used to connect to your chosen mounting platform. The paddle adjusts for belt width using a screw while the belt mount uses a snap-in connector piece. For further grip adjustments there are 2 screws on the holster itself to adjust tension. Overall the out of the box tension is pretty good. The product literature seems to always make a note of a positive click when the weapon is fully holstered, but this is just the gun tip smacking into the holster; so no "click" will be given if done slowly. Since the only thing holding the weapon in the holster is material pressure it is rated as level 1 retention. The flip side to this is that there is no button, snap, or anything to mess with to get to your weapon. Despite the low security rating, I can run around and do cartwheels without my pistol falling out, but the main threat is that someone else could snatch the pistol out of the holster with a typical grab. When it comes to open top / manipulation free holsters, the Revolution series is the best out there. Currently only available in black, the only downside is they aren't currently making models to fit pistols with combat lights. Despite this, they do offer versions of the holster to fit many of the currently issued MIL / LE pistols.
